GL-2xMT+, Ethernet on a Serial Floor

A GL-24xT in the IDF closet drives a 4-wire serial cable that daisy-chains from slot bank to slot bank. A fanless GL-2xMT+ in each bank's base takes it in on one ReadyLink port, passes it on from the other, and networks every game.

   On the slot floor

   Three banks of six games, back to back over a shared raceway, with the IDF closet well down the aisle from the first bank. Every game needs a link to the casino management system, and each bank's progressive sign and camera need power and data.

   In the IDF closet

   A GL-24xT ReadyLink host in the wall rack. One of its 24 ReadyLink ports drives the whole chain of banks over a 4-wire serial cable through the floor; its 10G SFP+ uplink goes up the conduit to the core.

   Meet the GL-24xT

   24 ReadyLink ports over telephone pair, dual 10G SFP+ and dual GbE uplinks, up to 520 W of PoE on the line. The chain lands on RL1 with an RJ45; the other 23 ports are free for more chains.

   One 4-wire cable, bank to bank

   No Cat6 home run per bank. A single 4-conductor, 2-pair serial cable leaves the closet through a floor core, rises into Bank 1's base, and carries on under the floor to Bank 2. Floor view is on so you can follow it.

   Meet the GL-2xMT+

   16 GbE ports, four of them PoE++ from a 240 W budget, dual 2.5G copper uplinks and two MTA/RJ45 combo ReadyLink ports, RL1 and RL2. Static Layer 3 keeps slot accounting, player tracking and surveillance on separate networks.

   ReadyLED: ports that match the cable

   Each port glows in the colour of the patch cord plugged into it. Ease the plugs out and every jack lights up to match its cable: game links in green, player tracking in blue, the sign in red, the camera in purple and the kiosk in orange. A slot tech can trace a run at a glance and pull the right cord the first time.

   RL1 in, RL2 out

   The serial cable from the closet lands on RL1's 4-pin MTA plug. RL2 takes the chain on to the next bank over the same kind of cable, so there is no splice, no block and no extra switch: each hop is its own ReadyLink link.

   The next bank

   Bank 2's GL-2xMT+ is wired the same way: the cable from Bank 1 lands on RL1, and RL2 carries the chain on under the floor to Bank 3.

   And the one after it

   Bank 3 picks the chain up on RL1 the same way, and its RL2 stays open for the next bank. Three banks, one GL-24xT port, no home runs: add a bank, add one cable.

    Simulations: ReadyLinks vs. the competition

    Pick a fault from the Simulations menu and flip the toolbar between ReadyLinks and Competition. A network loop from a stray patch cord, a degraded serial run to Bank 3, a tech plugging cords into the wrong ports, or a switch choked with carpet dust: the GL-2xMT+ blocks, adapts, shows or shrugs off each one, while the unmanaged gear takes games and signage down with it.

    Fanless, sealed, silent

    No fan to pull carpet fibre and dust into a closed slot base, and no fan noise at the player's feet. Fewer moving parts means fewer slot-tech calls and less game downtime.
