A camera on the light pole
The cable that fed the old analog camera becomes its network link. A small client in a box on the pole powers a new IP camera.

1 The parking lot
A light pole in the lot carries the camera that watches this row. The old analog camera ran on coax twisted pair pulled up the pole years ago. Moving to an IP camera usually means trenching new cable under the asphalt.
2 A small box on the pole
A weatherproof box strapped to the pole, below the camera, holds the client. The old cable comes up inside the pole and enters the box from behind, so nothing runs down the outside of the pole.
3 Meet the IPC-4SBNC IPC-4STP
A 3 × 2.2 × 1.4 inch ReadyLink client with one RL port on a BNC connector and one 1GbE PoE/PoE+ port. A 3 × 2.2 × 1.4 inch ReadyLink client with one RL port on a 6-pin Phoenix terminal and one 1GbE PoE/PoE+ port. It is provisioned and monitored from its host switch in ReadyView.
4 The old camera cable is the link
The RG59 that carried the analog video lands on the BNC RL port. Under the lot, the same coax runs back to the IDF in the building. The twisted pair that carried the old camera lands on the RL terminal block. Under the lot, the same pair runs back to the IDF in the building.
5 The other end: GL-12xB GL-12xT in the IDF rack
In the IDF, the coax comes through the wall, along the tray and down to a BNC port on a GL-12xB-P600D in the rack. In the IDF, the pair comes through the wall, along the tray and down to an RJ45 port on a GL-12xT-P600D in the rack. The 1U host carries Ethernet over the old cable, powers the pole, and serves the other poles in the lot from the ports beside it.
6 Powered over the same cable
The host switch sends PoX+ power down the coax pair with the data. It powers the client and the camera, so the box needs no power supply or outlet. A local AC or DC supply can feed the power terminal instead.
7 GE1 PoE+ to the IP camera
A short outdoor Cat6 run from GE1 goes back into the pole and up to the camera bracket, powering the camera with PoE+ over the same cable that carries its video.
