IPC-8F in a pool cabana

One fiber under the deck reaches the cabana. Inside the media console, an eight-port IPC-8F turns it into 2.5GbE and PoE++ for two TVs, outdoor Wi-Fi, sound, service and the minibar.

1. 1

   The cabana

A private cabana on the pool deck: a daybed, a TV on the back wall, a second TV that swings out toward the loungers, shade, a fan and a minibar. Guests expect the same Wi-Fi and TV they get in the room, out here in the sun.

2. 2

   Inside the media console

Open the console under the TV. The minibar fills the left bay. In the right bay the IPC-8F hangs on the back panel, next to the power outlet and the conduit that brings the cabana its fiber. Nothing shows from the daybed.

3. 3

   Meet the IPC-8F

A fanless 8-port ReadyLink client switch: a 1/10G SFP+ fiber uplink and eight 2.5GbE ports, seven of them PoE++ outputs at up to 90 W each and one a PoE++ input. It is provisioned, monitored and updated from ReadyView like every other cabana.

4. 4

   Fiber under the deck

The cabana's uplink is a single-mode fiber in a small conduit under the deck boards. It comes up inside the console and lands in the SFP+ cage. Fiber carries no power and is immune to the surges that reach outdoor copper, so it is the right link to a structure out on the deck.

5. 5

The other end: the pool equipment room

The conduit runs to the pool equipment room behind the cabanas. There every cabana's fiber lands on a patch panel, and a short patch cord takes it to an SFP+ port on a fiber switch such as the ReadyLinks AX-24, which links the whole pool deck back to the resort network.

6. 6

   GE1 and GE2: two TVs

GE1 runs up inside the back wall to the hospitality TV over the console. GE2 crosses inside the wall to the side wall, where the second TV sits on a full-motion arm; swing it out and guests on the loungers watch the game from the pool. Both take their IPTV stream over 2.5GbE, so there are no set-top boxes to hide.

7. 7

   GE3 PoE++ to outdoor Wi-Fi

GE3 runs up the wall and across inside the roof to an outdoor-rated access point under the ceiling, powered over the same cable. Every cabana gets its own AP, so the deck is covered from the cabanas out instead of from a distant pole.

8. 8

   GE4 speaker, GE5 service tablet

GE4 powers a weather-rated PoE speaker high on the back wall for the guest's own music. GE5 runs through the side wall to a service tablet by the opening, where guests order food and drinks and call an attendant.

9. 9

GE6 fan and lights, GE7 minibar

GE6 feeds a PoE controller in the ceiling that drives the fan and the LED lighting under the roof, so the cabana can be set from ReadyView or the guest's phone. GE7 crosses to the left bay and powers the connected minibar, which reports its temperature and door opens for restocking.
