General administration

An overview of cloud-managed administration for ReadyLinks switches, including the initial configuration steps and base CLI configuration.

Cloud networking provides centralized management, visibility, and control without the cost and complexity of controller appliances or overlay management software. ReadyLinks products are built from the ground up for cloud management, and come out of the box with centralized management, layer 7 device and application visibility, real-time web-based diagnostics, monitoring, reporting, and more.

#Features

  • Managed via ReadyView dashboard
  • Automatic firmware upgrades
  • SNMP/Syslog integration
  • IPv4 ACL support
  • DHCP snooping

  • 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45
  • 2x 10G SFP+ ports
  • IGMP snooping
  • VectorBoost
  • VLAN models
  • Phoneline or coax

For GLx models, hardware, and throughput specifications, see GLx series.

#Configuration

The basic initial configuration of a GLx switch is just as simple as any other model of ReadyLinks switch:

  1. Claim the device to your organization in the ReadyView dashboard.
  2. Add the device to a network.
  3. Physically connect the device to the local network.
  4. Allow the device to complete check-in and perform any initial firmware upgrades.
  5. Finish configuring the device from the ReadyView dashboard.

The base CLI configuration for ReadyView management, the VLAN 1 interface, and SNTP is:

text
![BASE]
configure terminal
management mode readyview
readyview password-connect username readyview password readyview
readyview password-connect filenumber 1 username readyview password readyview
end
![VLAN_INTERFACE]
configure terminal
interface vlan 1
ip address dhcp
end
end
![SNTP]
configure terminal
sntp client server-address time.google.com response-time 3 zone-offset GMT0 time-offset 0
end

#Common troubleshooting

My device won't connect to the ReadyView dashboard.

Confirm the device is on and connected to the internet. See Firewall rules for cloud connectivity for the addresses and ports the device must be able to reach.

#LEDs

The GLx switch uses LEDs to inform the user of the device's status. While the device powers on, all the LEDs will flash, indicating the device is booting up. See GLx series for the full LED reference.
